A supplement is a request for additional funds made after an initial insurance settlement has been issued. Supplements are common when hidden damage is discovered during the actual repair process, such as rot found behind a wall after a pipe burst. The contractor submits a “Supplemental Estimate” to the carrier with photographic proof of the new damage. Supplements are a standard part of the process to ensure the “Total Replacement Cost” is fully covered.
