A claims adjuster is a licensed professional, or often a hybrid AI system, responsible for investigating a loss to determine the carrier’s liability. The adjuster inspects the property damage, reviews the policy coverage, and calculates the final settlement amount using software like Xactimate. In the current market, adjusters may be “Staff Adjusters” employed by the company, “Independent Adjusters” hired by the carrier, or “Public Adjusters” who represent the homeowner.
