DOI

« Back to Glossary Index

The DOI is the official state government agency responsible for regulating the insurance industry and protecting consumers. Every state has its own DOI, led by an Insurance Commissioner. The DOI approves rate hikes, licenses agents, and operates a “Consumer Complaint” portal. For homeowners, the DOI is the final authority to turn to if a carrier is acting in “Bad Faith” or if an AI-driven claim decision appears to violate transparency and fairness laws.
