Substantive Human Review

« Back to Glossary Index

A Substantive Human Review is the legal right of a homeowner to have an automated AI claim decision audited by a licensed human adjuster. As carriers move toward “Black Box” algorithms, many states now mandate that any claim denial or significant settlement reduction must be reviewed and signed off by a person. This ensures that the nuances of a property loss, which a drone or algorithm might miss, are evaluated with human judgment and professional empathy.
