Risk Anomalies

« Back to Glossary Index

A risk anomaly is a data point flagged by a carrier’s AI system as being outside the expected or “normal” parameters for a specific property or claim. This could be an unusual heat signature on a thermal scan or a discrepancy between satellite imagery and a homeowner’s photos. Risk anomalies often trigger a “Substantive Human Review” or a more intensive field investigation. In the market, a flagged anomaly is the most common reason for a claim being delayed.
